Further exploration of nails and dyes
I’ve been working on a nail sampler but decided I like it as a hanging. I just need to think about ways to present it. There are so many ways to present a textile piece. It’s currently on my considering wall in my studio surrounded by some natural pieces I did a couple of years ago. Here are some close ups I feel like I can explore this development of this work however I also added some bullion knots and was amazed at how relaxing it was so this is another avenue to explore The bullion knots were inspired by work from Karen Ruane who creates beautiful embroidery however as mine was just a sampler I wanted to practice the actual stitch. I didn’t remove the imperfect messy stitches and although I’d intended on doing a lovely straight ordered sample I didn’t achieve that. I’m not sure I would have liked it so much if I’d tried to be neat and tidy. That is not my nature and it’s important to follow our own nature rather than that of others.
